The collection includes a Spanish land grant, 1791 and land survey, undated; plantation records, early Natchez banking papers, and personal correspondence of the Stephen, the William J., and the Henry C. Correspondents include John and Berhard Lintot, Felix Trudeau, Joseph Vidal, Alexander Milne, Samuel Postlethwaite, Peter Walker, and J.C. Wilkins. Several items relate to Philip Nolan and his wife, Fannie (nee Lintot). Letters (1839-1842) of William J. Minor and Stephen Duncan relate to activities of the Agricultural Bank of Natchez. Later correspondence concerns plantation life, cotton growing, and horse racing. Civil War letters concern property ownership, African-American labor, trade conditions, the Confederate economy, and protection of Minor family property by Federal forces. Some relate to the death of William J. Minor's son, Duncan, from disease while in military service (1862) and the parole of his son, William, from Johnson Island Prison (1864). Reconstruction letters and papers relate to plantation management and to freedmen laborers and tenant farmers. Also present are letters of Henry C. Minor, and Minor, Butler, and Postlethwaite family genealogies. Plantation diaries (1847-1870) kept by William J. Minor and later, his wife, Rebecca, record personal and business affairs on Concord, Hollywood, Southdown, and Waterloo plantations. Volumes include records of medical care on plantations, rules governing overseers, drivers and slaves, and lists of slaves and provisions issued to them.
